Andrew Hutchings has always been a diligent, hard worker. From a young age, his parents emphasized the importance of hard work, so he went directly to work after graduating high school. Andrew got almost a decades worth of experience working for Century 21. Even though he was busy at work, he still found the time to earn his undergraduate degree from Long Beach State University. 

Aside from his successful real estate career, Andrew Hutchings has many other interests. One is travel. This love began at a young age and has continued throughout his adulthood. Andrew will be the first to admit how fortunate he was to grow up with a father who was an airline employee. In exchange for being excellent students, he and his siblings could fly around the world multiple times. Andrew is grateful for that opportunity growing up, which has given him a fresh perspective on cultures worldwide. When he isn’t traveling or spending time with family and friends, Andrew Hutchings engages in one of his other hobbies. He is a big collector and owns a significant amount of wristwatches.

Upon graduation, Andrew Hutchings received a degree in Business Finance with a concentration in Real Estate. This achievement launched his career to new levels. At the age of 22, Andrew had earned his broker’s license, and four years later, he decided to open his own business.

Andrew Hutchings is a firm believer that being your own boss is one of the best positions you could have in the world. Not only do you decide when and how you work, but real estate allows Andrew to enjoy one of his other favorite things – people. The real estate industry is very sociable, and Andrew thrives in that environment. He often considers his clients to be as close as his friends.

Where did the idea for your career come from?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: As a kid I bought and sold bicycles, then motorcycles and then cars, so it seemed like a natural next step for me.

 

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: I don’t set an alarm clock and wake up after I get the sleep I need. I prioritize my day by doing the most important and usually the most time consuming things first.

 

How do you bring ideas to life?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: Hard work. My greatest joy is standing back, looking at my project, and knowing it’s all in the details.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: I do not settle for less, you are what you will settle for.

 

What advice would you give your younger self?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: Save pennies as they turn into nickels, save nickels they turn into dimes, save dimes as they turn into quarters etc.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: I will always seek out expert advice when needed. But the executive  decision is mine, the buck stops here.

 

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: I went into debt too soon in my life and it was a long uphill battle to pay it all off, I believe you should live below your means, you will sleep better  at night.

 

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: A property management company for homeowners, an all in one business that handles all of your needs such as:  house cleaning, gardener, pool man, repairs, inspections, security surveillance, etc.

 

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: I purchased three ROKU devices for a vacation home and saved over $200.00 per month by canceling my cable TV service.

 

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

Andrew Hutchings Long Beach: I use the multiple listing service constantly checking on real estate properties and their owners.

 

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?
